Debate Continues To Find Common Ground

October 19, 2021

The struggle for consensus between very divergent ideas is on full display in Washington, DC this month as the various factions within Democratic lawmakers attempt to find common ground. The bipartisan infrastructure bill (IIJA) continues to be held without a vote in the House of Representatives while details of the budget reconciliation are being negotiated between the various members of Congress. Media outlets continue to report that there is strong support for the energy tax credits, although there is less confidence in the Clean Electricity Performance Program, which would incentivize utilities to shift generation to more sustainable options. Overall, there remains some optimism that several deals will be made to move forward with both of these funding packages during the remainder of 2021.
